The Team

Matthew L. Curro, Esq.

Matt is a seasoned attorney with substantial experience representing a range of clients in various business, debt, and corporate restructuring transactions.

Prior to forming Curro Law LLC, Matt spent nearly nine years with some of the country’s preeminent law firms representing clients in complex debt restructurings, bankruptcy-related litigation, and corporate transactions.  Recognized as a Super Lawyer, Rising Star, every year since 2013, Matt’s experience ranges from representing large corporate debtors in their complex debt restructurings to assisting startup companies in various corporate governance and financing matters, to representing individuals in various business and real estate transactions.  Some highlights include:

• Representing Washington Mutual, Inc. in one of the largest Chapter 11 filings in US history;

• Representing Personal Communications Devices, LLC, a New York based technology company with over $100 million in assets, in its Chapter 11 case, which resulted in a successful sale of the company;

• Defending a large financial institution in a lawsuit alleging mortgage securities-related fraud;

• Advising boards of directors on their fiduciary duties in distressed situations;

• Representing the largest secured lender in the Chapter 11 case of the W Hotel and Residences in Boston in a contested Chapter 11 plan confirmation fight;

• Representing a consortium of secured lenders in their foreclosure of a US-based REIT with assets exceeding $1 billion;

• Representing an early-stage biotech startup company in a cross-border financing transaction; and

• Representing a secured lender in its strict foreclosure of a clean-technology company’s assets.

Matt began his career in the Business Finance and Restructuring group of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, an international law firm headquartered in New York.  There, Matt was part of Weil’s industry-leading bankruptcy practice and focused on representing debtors, including Washington Mutual, in large and complex debt restructurings.  Immediately prior to forming Curro Law LLC, Matt practiced in the Financial Restructuring Group of Goodwin Procter LLP, another preeminent international law firm.  At Goodwin, Matt’s practice was broad-based and included representing creditors and debtors in complex restructuring situations, as well as a number of clients in various corporate and debt transactions.

Now, at Curro Law LLC, Matt is committed to upholding the same level of client service that was a hallmark of his BigLaw career, and to delivering sophisticated, yet practical, legal advice to clients of all sizes.
